Cordão do Boitatá is one of the members and co-creator of the project Carnival - spirituality, economy and politics. Held by the Akademie der Künste der Welt (Academy of the Arts of the World) in the city of Cologne, Germany, the project celebrates the 200th anniversary of Carnival in Cologne, reflecting on the popular festival beyond celebration, but mainly as a socio-political event.

In the history of carnivals in the world, the festival has proved to be a fundamental tool for development and political and social change. Like Rio de Janeiro, Cologne is well known for its carnival, making them sister cities as the connection between festivities, spirituality, economics, and politics.
With artistic direction by Adriana Schneider and running from July to December 2023, the project provokes reflections on the Afro-diasporic, religious, and cultural expressions that shape the festival, such as the influence of religions of African origin, especially Candomblés, the economic consequences for these populations during the carnival period, and the political impacts generated by the cultural manifestation.
Workshops, musical concerts, artistic performances, and a performance symposium in collaboration with various institutions and associations of immigrants from Cologne are part of the program.
Among the activities offered by Cordão do Boitatá is the availability of a collection of photos and videos of the bloc's carnival. Available soon.
